HEART-TO-HEART FACTS ABOUT WARM HEARTS OF DOUGLAS COUNTY, INC.
- Warm Hearts of Douglas County, Inc., originally known as Lawrence Warm Hearts, was formed in December of 1982 to assist low-income household in Douglas County struggling to pay their winter heating fuel bills.
- To reduce household heating fuel consumption, Warm Hearts strongly encourages conservation and weatherization programs to all Douglas County residents.
- Warm Hearts does not approve requests for assistance in paying the cost of utility deposits, turn-on charges, reconnection charges, or other utility fees for services.
- To meet the needs of Douglas County residents living outside of Lawrence, Warm Hearts utilizes donations from those living outside of Lawrence to assist families in those donor’s communities.
- Applications for Warm Hearts Emergency Fuel Assistance are available at the Ballard Center, Douglas County Senior Services, ECKAN, Penn House & Salvation Army in Lawrence.
- All checks made payable to Black Hills Cares and mailed to Warm Hearts will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Black Hills Energy. Yes, that is right……. Regardless of the amount of your contribution, Black Hills Energy will provide Warm Hearts with an additional amount equal to your contribution, when your check is made payable to Black Hills Cares and mailed to Warm Hearts!
