Embrace Warm Hearts Welcome

To a valued friend of Warm Hearts,

You or someone in your home has previously donated funds to Warm Hearts of Douglas
County, your Lawrence-based energy assistance agency.

Again this heating season, residents of Lawrence and Douglas County will need your help. For them, the issue goes beyond comfort. It’s a matter of safety and wellbeing.

This year, donating is easier than ever. You can now make your secure, tax-deductible donation online through PayPal here. Of course, you’re still welcome to donate by check, but in either instance Black Hills will match your donation amount.

Thanks to people like you, last year Warm Hearts helped more than 1,300 local residents– many of them families with small children – in more than 500 homes. Applicants are carfully screened and have a household income below 185 % of federal poverty guidelines.

They are people facing unwarranted adversity right here in Lawrence and Douglas County. Veterans, the elderly, the disabled, hard-working people suddenly left without an income after a layoff.

Every penny you donate goes directly to qualifying applicants. Our promotional needs are met by a grant, and our volunteer board donates the time and care it takes to make Warm Hearts an important part of this great community.

Please give what you can to Warm Hearts of Douglas County. It’s a gift of warmth that will make you feel warm as well.

Kind regards,

The Warm Hearts board of community volunteers

Please Note:

Matching funds double the power of your donation to Warm Hearts of Douglas County.

Through its Black Hills Cares program, natural gas service provider Black Hills Energy matches every donation to Warm Hearts. Black Hills Cares dollars are applied to heating bills for natural gas, wood or propane.

Again, your gift of warmth is greatly appreciated.

Please don’t forget…double your donation with a check payable to Black Hills Cares and mail it to:
