To our valued Warm Hearts benefactors:
We hope this finds you well — and warm.
You hold this letter because someone at your address has in the past contributed to Law-
rence-based Warm Hearts of Douglas County, your non-profit energy assistance agency.
Sadly, many Lawrence and Douglas County households agonize over winter heating bills. They skip meals, or forego essential medication. They are families with small children; they are veterans, elderly, disabled. They work if they can and make numerous sacrifices. Yet the holidays offer nothing but uncertainty and fear.
Thankfully, people such as you step forward. If you are able, we ask that you join hundreds of your friends and neighbors by making a tax-deductible donation to Warm Hearts.
Every penny you donate will help someone in need. Our annual campaign is fully funded through a grant. Our all-volunteer board includes individuals with a long history of service to the community. They are the agency’s directors and provide the sole means of support in all the work it takes to make Warm Hearts successful.
In just one heating season, donations to Warm Hearts
- helped more than 1,300 people in more than 500 Lawrence and Douglas County
households - provided an average of $200 per qualifying household for heating fuel
- helped households with a total income 50 percent or more below poverty guidelines
In closing, we again ask you to give what you can to Warm Hearts of Douglas County. At any amount, your tax-deductible donation will benefit our Lawrence and Douglas County neighbors who receive the gift of warmth.
Kind regards,
Your Warm Hearts board of volunteers
Very important — Double Your Donation
At No Additional Cost To You!
Please make your check payable to "Black Hills Cares" — not Warm Hearts. Black Hills Energy, your local natural gas service provider, will match the amount of your donation through the company’s Black Hills Cares program. But only if you make the check out to Black Hills Cares.
Warm Hearts will then dedicate the total in its entirety to energy assistance for qualifying local residents — the agency’s annual campaign is funded through a grant and all associated work and management are done by volunteers.
Please don’t forget…double your donation with a check payable to Black Hills Cares and mail it in the enclosed envelope to:
